Privacy policy
The short version: your household settings and appliance list never leave your browser, we have no account system and collect no personal information ourselves, and the third-party services on the site are Google Analytics, Google AdSense and Netlify's form handling.

What stays in your browser
Everything you enter into a calculator is stored in your own browser's local storage and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. Specifically:

There is no server-side copy of any of it. It will not follow you to another device or another browser, and clearing your browser data removes it entirely. You can also clear it from within the site — open My home and use the reset control.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which calculators are used. It sets cookies and collects a truncated IP address, device and browser information, referring page and the pages you view.
It does not receive anything you type into a calculator. Nothing you enter is sent as an event, a parameter or a custom dimension — the calculators run entirely in your browser and Analytics is not wired into them.
You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site using Google's browser add-on.
Advertising
The site carries Google AdSense advertising. Google and its partners use cookies to serve and measure ads and may personalise them based on your prior visits to this and other sites. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's previous visits to this website or other websites.
You can turn off personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and opt out of third-party vendor cookies at optout.aboutads.info. Our full position on advertising is on the disclosure page.
The contact form
If you send a message through the contact page, the form is processed by Netlify and delivered to a monitored email address. It holds whatever you put in it — typically a name, an email address if you want a reply, and your message.
That information is used only to reply to you. It is not added to a mailing list, not used for marketing and not shared with anyone. There is no mailing list to be added to.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Netlify, which like any web host processes the requests your browser makes, including your IP address, in the course of serving pages. Netlify is a United States company, so those requests are handled outside Australia.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal information about you beyond anything you have chosen to send in a message, there is very little to request access to or correct. If you have sent us a message and want it deleted, ask and it will be, along with the reply thread.
This site is operated from Australia and the Australian Privacy Principles apply to it. If you have a concern about how your information has been handled, contact us first; if that does not resolve it, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner accepts complaints.

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top of this page will change and the change will be described here. It was last updated in September 2026.
